9月11日（土）にOnline交流したベトナムホーチミン医科薬科大学学生より、文化交流をカジュアルに行いたいとのリクエストがあり、第二弾として9月25日（土）に再びリモートで交流する運びとなりました。互いの大学紹介、文化紹介をスライドで発表した後、今回は実物を画面で紹介しようという発想から、日本の秋を象徴する柿、梨を見せつつ自分で食べて感想を言う学生や、抹茶、お湯、茶碗を用意して実際に茶せんで泡立てたものを見せる学生。また、北海道出身の学生は函館の朝市や夜景、海鮮丼の写真を見せながら地元を案内する等、ハイテクとアナログの両方を駆使して臨場感を出しました。ベトナムの学生からは、日本語と同じ発音で同じ意味のベトナム語があることを教えてもらいました。例えば、結婚（けっこん）同意（どうい）等、古く中国からの影響を互いに受けて現在に残っているようですが、画面越しに発音し合いながら、その音を確かめ、驚いたり、笑ったりと楽しい会話が続きました。ベトナムの先生からはサプライズのハーモニカ演奏もあり、あっという間の2時間でしたが、参加した学生からは「実際に会いたいという気持ちが更に増しました。」との声。その日を楽しみにしたいと思います。

The students of Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam, with whom we had an online exchange on Saturday 11 September, requested an informal cultural exchange, so we decided to have a second remote exchange on Saturday 25 September. After a presentation of slides introducing each other’s universities and cultures, individual students showed and talked about their own interests or topics in creative ways. One student showed real persimmons and pears and tasted them, which symbolize autumn in Japan. Another student demonstrated Matcha, with hot water and a bowl with a tea brush. Another student from Hokkaido showed pictures of Hakodate’s morning market, the night view as well as a picture of seafood rice bowl as part of a tour of her hometown. Using both digital and real items, students created realistic presentations. The Vietnamese students taught us Vietnamese words that have the same pronunciation and meaning as Japanese words. For example, “marriage”, “consent”, etc., which have been influenced by the Chinese language and are still used today. We pronounced each other’s words through the screen, checking the sounds, being surprised and laughing. There was also a surprise harmonica performance by a Vietnamese teacher. The two hours flew by, and as one participants mentioned, “This exchange made me want to meet them even more.” , we are looking forward to metting them in person in the near future.
