Takasaki Students visit to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City

Takasaki University has successfully completed the short-term program in Vietnam with 27 students from the departments of Social Welfare, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Child and Adolescent Education from March the 2nd to the 13th. The University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City put in much effort to arrange the daily programs such as providing lectures at the university, visits to hospitals, welfare facilities, a nutrition center, a rehabilitation center, a pharmaceutical company and schools. Our students were able to learn about their field of study and observe the differences between Japan and Vietnam. Students also had a chance to meet the victims from Agent Orange, remnant of the last war, and experienced together how to make to together handicrafts. Other students had the opportunity to have a memorable interaction with local school and kindergarten children by making Origami and exercising together. Through those activities, many of our students could open their eyes to the realization of how easy it is to get around in Japan compared to other countries. In addition, students also had a chance to learn firsthand about the history and Culture of Vietnam. The overwhelming friendly Vietnamese students made much effort to make our students feel at home by taking them for dinner, shopping in local area and spending time together on weekend exploring Mekong Delta. As usual, departure brought tears at the airport when time came for a farewell time with many Vietnamese students present to say good-by.

The Center of International Affairs would like to convey our deep appreciation to all those who cooperated and helped us to successfully carry out this program.

※This program was supported by JASSO, as part of their “study abroad support program” of Japanese Students.
